The Arboretum Urzeitwald-Waldhilsbach

The Arboretum Urzeitwald-Waldhilsbach, a private collection of plant species mainly from the Cretaceous period: Liriodendron, Liquidambar, Magnolia, Nyssa, Sorbus, Styrax, Stewartia, Ginkgo and many conifer species, which can be detected in fossil finds in Central Europe are of particular importance. Besides promoting biodiversity, the aim of the arboretum is to safeguard the species that are threatened with extinction and to bring together the lines of development of these plant genera that have arisen as a result of the continental drift in Europe, North America and Asia. In total we grow about 3500 taxa of mostly woody plants including 750 magnolias. We are situated in USDA zone 7b with approximately 750 mm of rain. In our Lexikon you may find photos of our plants and we are trying to gather more and more information in the future. We are also trying to propagate some of the plants by cuttings or from seed. You may find a small selection in our Pflanzen-Shop. If you have specific questions and/or wishes please contact us.
