During the last days I had the chance to check some of our evergreen magnolias. Till now we’ve only had some nights with frost down to -5°C. No snow on the ground. They all do very well – even no damaged leaves.
Planted on a westward facing slope with big trees giving them some light shade they are developing continuously. We do have some more crosses with M. insignis (M. sieboldii ‚Colossus‘ x insignis, M. ‚Silk Road‘ x insignis, M. changhungtana x insignis, M. yuyuanensis x insignis) doing also very well. About the other evergreens I will let you know later on.
